Garbage Bag Distribution

I have just learned for a variety of silly reasons that I cannot distribute the garbage and recycling bags to tenants by putting them on your doorknobs.

I have to hand them out individually to tenants.

This program gets dumber and dumber as the days go on.

I have plenty of both the green and clear recycling bags in my office on the second floor. Please stop by during my normal office hours during the day or when I am in the office in the evening and I'll give you some. If you need bags also please email me at watermarkeapartments@gmail.com and I can make special arrangements to get them to you.

I have been speaking to property managers all over Seattle and the outrage over this program is wide and deep. If you are angry and confused over the Clear Alleys program PLEASE call and email the Mayor and the City Council. They created this nonsense and only they have the power to recind it. I'm only coping with the mess they created. I'm only the messenger, okay?

  1. I've written to the Council but it won't do any good. They all live in the high rent district and I doubt they care what goes on with mere renters like my neighbors and me.

This whole garbage thing will make it impossible to continue living here. I hope you and the property mgt company realize this. If I want to take my garbage out three times a week, it will cost me $858 additional dollars per year - if you are going to charge us for the bags to use as you say you are. I'm sorry, but that's increasing my rent by almost $1k a year and this place...just no.

  2. NO! Please understand that YOU DO NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR THESE GARBAGE BAGS! They are billed to me as the building manager and are included as part of your rent. They are an additional cost to running the building. You are NOT going to get a bill for these bags. That is not the issue. The point is that this is just another ridiculous expense being passed onto building managers by the city.

  3. How are you included as part of our rent..........??? This is crazy. Then who is paying for these garbage bags?

  4. @ Anonymous #2 - rent includes garbage/water/sewer. In your lease there is a little table which shows what your rent is and then what the utilities are. Garbage costs are part of that.

  6. Hey everyone, the reason the bags are so expensive is because they include the cost of service. Property management was formerly paying for a dumpster; now he's not. It's all the same.

He just needed to let you know not to waste the bags, because sending out half empty bags would be like paying for 2 dumpsters instead of 1.

  7. Well, Robert himself is not paying for the bags; the management company hired by the owner of the building or the building owner himself is paying for the bags. Robert works for them. He just distributes the garbage bags (and the bad news about them) to us.
